Taco Bell’s New Cantina Bowl

Taco Bell’s New Cantina Bowl

Taco Bell has made it on my blog already in the last year for its Doritos Locos Tacos, and while they are tasty, I haven’t been back there as much since they got rid of some of my favorite things on the menu.  However, they have redeemed themselves with a new item, the Taco Bell  “Cantina Bowl.”

In an effort to eat more healthily, I am getting pickier about my fast food visits. I am also quite wary of fast food joints who decide to put a bunch of things in a “bowl” (KFC reference), but the Cantina Bowl has a lot of good ingredients that fit within my healthy choices, so I thought I’d give it a try.  The Cantina Bowl has citrus-herb grilled chicken (steak or veggie option, too!), cilantro-infused rice, black beans, roasted corn and pepper salsa, haas avocados, & a creamy cilantro dressing. It also has a GUARANTEE slapped on it.  Apparently, if you don’t like it, Taco Bell will give you something different.

It is GOOD.  Since most of what they serve at taco bell is different renditions of the same ingredients now…….if you like anything else on the menu, you are going to like this.  The only thing it doesn’t have is taco sauce, a tortilla, or tortilla chips.  Aside from this – it is VERY TASTY, and there’s A LOT OF IT.  I didn’t even finish the thing.  I left a hand full of rice and some stray lettuce.

It’s a “hair” more expensive than the other options. Taco Bell seems to be headed that way, but that’s okay if the ingredients are getting better.  The only reason I know about the new item is the great commercial that features the “Master Chef” that created the recipe, Lorena Garcia. I thought I was watching a commercial for something else when it started!

I can mark the Cantina Bowl as something at Taco Bell I can eat & feel good about.  Try it!  You can even eat it on the go – the Cantina Burrito!
