St. Patrick’s Day & Irish Recipes: Chocolate Stout Irish Stew Recipe!

When St. Patrick’s Day comes around, I usually like to find some time to have some Irish Food & Drink. Usually, the local Irish pubs & restaurants are completely packed.  So I’ve started doing my own thing, and entertaining friends and family without all the fuss.  Last year, I tried my first every Corn Beef & Cabbage recipe, and this year I’ve already tried out something new – so I can pass it along before you make your St. Paddy’s Day plans! It’s an easy recipe for lamb and a refreshing change from the ol’ faithful beef stew recipe!

Chocolate Stout Irish Stew

2-3 lbs. already chopped Lamb (for stews)

2 large onions, sliced/slivers

1 pkg baby carrots

2 potatoes (chopped…. Or ½ package frozen southern-style hashbrowns!

2 ½ cups Beef Broth

1 Cup Chocolate Stout

1 tsp Dried Thyme

1 tsp Salt & 1 tsp Pepper & 4 tablespoons of flour in a bowl

  1. Preheat the Oven 325.
  2. Coat the lamb pieces with the flour mixture.  Shake off excess & Arrange in bottom of roasting pan with lid.
  3. Put ½ the onions in next, then the carrots, potatoes; Top with remaining onion.
  4. Sprinkle the thyme.
  5. Pour in the Broth and Stout.
  6. Put on the lid & cook in oven for 2 ½ hours.

The lamb with MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. Your whole house will have the most wonderful aroma.  Every bite will be more flavorful than the last!
