Sonic’s Peanut Butter Bacon Milkshake!

Sonic’s Peanut Butter Bacon Milkshake!

If you don’t know already, Sonic’s “Summer of Shakes” is probably coming to an end soon.  They basically decided to offer a bunch of new flavors that aren’t on their regular shake menu.  This means my favorite – peanut butter – is back.  However, peanut butter lovers have a few more options…..

Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Fudge, Peanut Butter Cookie, Peanut Butter & Banana, Peanut Butter & Jelly…. and PEANUT BUTTER WITH BACON! I am a sucker for interesting flavors, and I already have tried many chocolate desserts that include bacon.  I decided to try it.

My Impression:Overall – I would just get the peanut plain butter shake, because the bacon is virtually unnoticeable.  Bacon connoisseurs would not be happy. (at least from the sonic I visited…)

The Process: It looked like they took the bacon, crumbled it & put it in the bottom. Then they mixed the shake – - – I didn’t taste bacon until the very end…. except for once – a piece of bacon fat came through my straw…..  The bacon loses it’s crunch, so it’s cold, rubbery, and a little slimy. At the bottom – there is a pile of it.

Someone Who Disagrees with Me: That’s my opinion…. but I know someone who absolutely LOVED it.  That’s right – my dog.  When I got to the bottom, I couldn’t stomach the bacon slathered in peanut butter-flavored ice cream….. but that was right down his alley!   Basically – it won’t go to waste if you want to try it – provided you have a pup!

Oh yum. Peanut butter shakes are the best. I think I would go with the peanut butter fudge one. You mentioned having tried several other chocolate desserts with bacon – have you tried chocolate covered bacon? I did for the first time this year and loved it. I’ve been trying to convince Ashley to melt some hersheys semi-sweet chips and slather some over her bacon. She said she would be open to it, but she’s a little skeptical, so I think I’m going to just send her some in the mail one day.
